In this section:

Overview of My World and the Flock Browser Interface

When you first start the Flock web browser, My World opens automatically and begins to organize many of your favorite sites, feeds and friends for easy access. Here's a quick overview of what you see:

    Flock Menus and Navigation Bar
  • The Flock menus that give you text access to all of Flock's features.
  • The Navigation Toolbar that provides commonly-used buttons for moving around the web.
  • The Location Bar where web addresses (URLs) appear or can be entered.
  • Flock Search Widget
  • To the right of these is the Flock Search Widget, which lets you do quick, top-level searches of favorites, recently-visited sites and search engines.
  • Flock Toolbar and Links
  • Beneath these lies the Flock Toolbar, which includes buttons to open sidebars for Flock's most important special features. Rest your cursor over these icons to see a small pop-up describing what it is for. The Favorites Toolbar is to the right; click on these to go to the named websites. And beneath these begins the My World page, which includes a search tool and MyWorld tools.
  • My World Columns
  • Finally, there are several columns helping you keep track of your friends and favorites. Click the name of the website, person, or article in any of the columns to view that website, person, or article in a new tab or window.
    • Friend Activity: Collects the latest updates from your friends on the People services you have activated in Flock.
    • Favorite Feeds: Collects the latest articles from feeds you've subscribed to.
    • Favorite Media: Collects the latest photos and videos from people you've starred in the Media Bar.
    • Favorite Sites: Collects your most recently visited favorited sites along with the websites you visit most frequently.
    • Twitter Search: Allows you to search Twitter for keywords or hashtags.

All of these features of Flock are described at length in other sections of the User Guide. However, the My World page may be all you'll ever need to manage your favorites, along with some of the basics explained below. Then, once you're feeling comfortable, check out how to customize Flock and your My World page just the way you like them!
