Web-based email services (also known as Webmail) are rapidly gaining popularity, and you can use any one of them in Flock as you normally would in any browser. However, Flock can seamlessly plug into several specific Webmail services, making it easy monitor new emails and instantly email to your friends whatever you find on the web, wherever you find it.

Set Up a Webmail Account in Flock
- It's easy to activate a Webmail Account in Flock. If you don't already have a web-based email account, sign up for one of the following Flock-supported Webmail services first:
- Then just log into your Webmail account and Flock automatically does the rest!
- Once logged in, Flock will present you with a messagebar with a Remember Account button. Click this button if you'd like Flock to remember your Webmail account and work more seamlessly with it (we recommend this, unless you are using a shared computer).
- If you have more than one Webmail account, or use more than one Webmail service, no problem! Just log into those accounts, too. See below for more information on working with multiple Webmail accounts.
Note: You can be logged into a Gmail, AOL Mail and Yahoo! Mail account at the same time but, as is the case with any browser, you cannot be logged in at precisely the same time to multiple accounts on the same Webmail service.
Use Webmail in Flock
- Once your Webmail account is activated (see above), the Webmail icon in the Flock Toolbar will glow orange when you have new messages.
- Click on the Webmail icon to open the Webmail menu giving you information and options from your Webmail account.
- Select the first line, which is the account name, to go to your Webmail inbox. This menu also provides you with other options:
- Select any of the unread messages listed to go directly to that particular message.
- Select Check Now to check for new emails.
- Select Compose Message to begin a new blank email message.
- Select Share Current Web Page to place the URL (address) of the web page you are currently viewing into a new message.
- Select Share Flock to tell your friends how cool Flock (and especially the Webmail integration) is! Ooooh yeah!
- Select Webmail Settings to change how Flock works with your Webmail (see below).
Work With Multiple Webmail Accounts
- When you activate more than one Webmail account, Flock automatically sets the last account you logged into as the the primary or default account, and bolds it on the menu when you click on the Mail icon on the Flock Toolbar. The Primary account is the Webmail account Flock will use in all its sharing features.
Note: You can be logged into a Gmail, AOL Mail and Yahoo! Mail account at the same time, but you cannot be logged in at the same time to multiple accounts on the same Webmail service (just like in any browser). - To choose a different account as Primary or change other configurations, select Webmail Settings from the Mail menu to open the Options dialog.
- In the Options dialog, you can do any of the following:
- Uncheck Always set the last account you have logged into as the primary account so that you can set a specific default account.
- Uncheck Include "Shared with Flock" to remove this addendum to your emails.
- Tell Flock to use either your primary Webmail account or an external email program (like Thunderbird or Outlook) when launching email links from web pages and performing other sharing functions (see below).
- After unchecking Always set the last account you have logged into as the primary account and clicking OK, you can click on the Mailbox icon again, select a Webmail account, and then select the menu option Use as Primary Webmail Account.
Share with Webmail
- Once your primary Webmail account is set the way you like it (see above), you can fully explore and appreciate how your Webmail can be integrated with Flock to an extent no other browser currently supports. When you use any of the following, Flock will automatically use your primary Webmail account:
- Email links (mailto:) on web pages
- The Share this link via email button on the Location Bar
- The Email This button for photos and videos in the Media Bar
- The Email option for items in the Web Clipboard
- The Send Link option when you right-click (CTRL-click on Mac) a link
- The Email option at the bottom of articles in the Feed Reader
- The Send Image option when you right-click (CTRL-click on Mac) on an image
- To disable these options, open Webmail Settings and choose When sending email in Flock: Use external email program.
Now you're ready to activate and manage your blogs...
