Sharing Photos by Blog and Email

In this section:

Flock's Media Bar makes it simple to add a photo to a blog post or comment, or into a email written with a web-based email service.

Where to put your photos

You should be able to insert photos on any web page that accepts input from your keyboard. Of course, most of those places aren't appropriate for photos -- for instance, you wouldn't try to insert a photo into the field where you fill in your address when shopping online. (But now that we've mentioned it, you'll probably try it, right?)

We suggest you add photos to:

  • Your blog posts.
  • Your comments on friends' Myspace or LiveJournal pages.
  • Your web-based email (if you use Flock to get to your email page, then it's web-based).

*Piczo users only: drag your Piczo images from the Mediabar to anywhere on your Piczo page.

Adding a photo to a blog post, comment, or web mail message

  1. Use Flock to navigate to the place where you want to put the photo.
    • If you're adding a photo to a blog post, go to your blog account and follow the usual procedure to create a new blog post.
    • If you want to use a photo to comment on a friend's blog (like on a Myspace page), do whatever you usually do to create a comment.
    • If you're sending the photo in an email, go to your email service and begin a new email message.
  2. If the Media Bar isn't already open, click the Media Bar button, or push CTRL+SHIFT+M on your keyboard.
  3. Find the photo(s) you want to insert into your blog post.
  4. Drag the photo from the Media Bar into the blog post.

Copying photos directly from your computer

You don't have to upload photos to your online photo service first - you can drag photos directly from your computer to a blog post, comment, or email message. If you have setup a photo account in the Accounts and Services menu, then Flock uploads the photo to your account automatically.

Adding photos from other web sites

You can post photos to your blog that are located on other websites. To do so, you will first need to find the URL address for the image that you would like to display. If you have the URL to the image, click the insert image button on the far right of the blog editor, or select Image from the Insert menu of the blog editor. The Image Properties window will open and you can add a link to the online image.

Image Properties

The Image Properties window has four settings:

  • URL: The URL for the image that you would like to link to.
  • Title: This text will appear when someone moves their mouse cursor over the image.
  • Alternate Text: This text will appear in the event that the image does not load.
  • Alignment: Allows you to set the alignment of the image in your blog post.
