Congratulations to the entire Firefox team and community on today's launch of Firefox 2. We didn't think to send a cake like the Internet Explorer team did (perhaps a flambe would be more appropriate), but hopefully I can express our felicitations in a blog post.
(In case you didn't know, Flock is built on top of Firefox. Flock 1.0 is in active development now and it's being developed on top of Firefox 2, so stay tuned.)
What's most inspiring to me is not the actual product, despite how good it is, but the community. The Firefox community is a constant source of inspiration to me as we build our own, and I hope that as time goes on we can become closer kin. The community collaboration and production that went into this release will continue to studied for years to come, just look at the numbers alone and you can see that something very interesting is going on here.
- 100’s of active technical contributors
- 10,000’s of nightly testers
- 100,000’s of evangelists and marketers

I tried using FF2 but I'm so in love with Flock i just can't do it!
Hope development on new flock is going well <3
I agree with Will that Firefox has accumulated over the years an impressive army of developers and evangelists. However, I still think Flock is a better and more innovative product that Firefox. As the years pass by, Flock too will increase its critical mass of Devs and users.
Regards,
Omar.-
I think so too Omar.

When Flock 2.0 would be released? :)
Flock 1.0, which is based on Firefox 2.0, is in active development right now.

seems like Flock is ALWAYS "in developement" . When do you plan on actually committing to something?
Get that shelf back in there.
FF 2 rawks
Me too, I am so in love with Flock. I would be lost without Flock... I hate IE now too.
Flock isnt actually based on FireFox though is it? Its based more on the idea of firefox (and the success) and the open source gecko engine ... flock is just a case to the shiny object we cant actually play with because well it would be pointless .... so just like damain wonders ... when will the flock team actually develop and commit to releasing a stable, crash free, memory friendly, non cpu time resource hogger version? or i am dreaming again ....
come on guys! you have the product, it has more to offer than the competitors out there (apart from obviously the anti-phishing features, the stability etc...) give us something the public will like you and use without having to restart it everything few hours!
Adam,
Flock is indeed based on Firefox code. The next public beta, codenamed Danphe, will be based on Firefox 2.0 code.
Damian and Adam, we understand how you feel. The folks that have been working on Flock 1.0 want it out there more than anyone else, believe me. Our Engineering Manager Mike Dosik posted on the flock-dev mailing list something today that might help you understand why we haven't committed to a release date just yet.
ChrisVance is right - Flock is built on top of the Firefox codebase. Thanks CV for clearing that up.

Keep up the good work guys. I've played about with the FF2 beta, and I'm looking forward to the nicer tab management (so I can see what tabs I've got open), and the new version does seem a lot smoother and faster than 1.5, but as I've already got the spell check and session-saver under Flock, this one remains my browser of choice. I'll just have to go and pester Yahoo and Google about getting APIs for 360 and Blogger Beta sorted out so I can have use Flock's superior editor. Grr...
