At Flock, we love to hear from you. We want to make sure that Flock continues to help you discover, enjoy and share the relationships and content you’re passionate about. So while you’ve been talking, we’ve been listening. The result is a new version of Flock that reflects the new ways you want to use your favorite social browser along with two of your favorite networks—Twitter and Facebook.
The new version that we’re releasing today lets you keep your finger on the pulse of your social networks, yet it gives you the freedom to explore online without having to click back and forth between websites, tabs, applications and content. And now, Flock is the only browser that let’s you take Facebook Chat with you wherever you go on the Web. You can also drag and drop photos, videos, links and text into your chats, making everything simple, social and fun.
Flock 2.5 makes sharing and discovering content fast and easy. You just drag and drop URLs, photos, videos, text or other things you find on the web to a friend’s Twitter, Facebook, MySpace or other profile in Flock’s People Sidebar and it’s instantly shared. And now Flock comes with Twitter Search right in MyWorld, so you can keep up to date on all the topics you’re most interested in and save them in the best place possible, your Flock browser.
Last but not least is FlockCast, an effortless way to share information across your social networks. With FlockCast, you can broadcast anything from blog posts and picture uploads to Tweets and MySpace status updates directly to your Facebook profile. And when you share a URL in a Twitter message, Flock automatically shortens the URL.
Clearly, this new version of Flock is for those of you that are Twitter and Facebook fans. Our Facebook users have grown over 80% since the beginning of 2009! And, on Twitter, we are proud and appreciative of in the great things you’re writing about Flock across the Twittersphere… (check out #flock).
Flock’s popularity has been almost entirely driven by the generous recommendations coming from each of you (we just passed 7.5 million downloads). We’re extremely grateful for your support and hope that you’ll keep spreading the word. And now we’re giving you the opportunity to earn the recognition and rewards you deserve by telling your friends about Flock on Facebook at http://www.flock.com/refer.
As always, let us know about your experiences with Flock. What you have to say is important--and we hear you.

I haven't used flock before but my friend that works from home uses it all the time and showed me how he used it the other day. It looks awesome. I am definately going to give it a go.

Hello Shawn,
Now this is a kind of release people are looking for. For so many days, we have not seen any major updates from Flock. All we used to see in the past few weeks was spam comments all over this blog.
The image dragging and URL shorting, both are some cool things.
Flock makes it so easy to manage different things: and now twitter will be more fun.

wow i love everything thats been covered here, the specifics with twitter and the new flockcast, its good but facebook can allready import blogs, oh well.. i like the new facebook chat feature but i use meebo
Outstanding update guys. Twitter character count was the first problem I noticed when I discovered Flock 2.0, and the fact that you not only fixed that but revamped the other Twitter features is HIGHLY appreciated
I love it!
I have tried all the main social networking aggregators (twirl, digby, seesmic desktop, tweetdeck, etc...) and was concerned that my Firefox browser was so customized that I wouldn't want to use a second browser, but WOW! This is great.
Thanks for all the love, everyone! We're really excited about this release and really happy to see that you are too!
@john goundry: Thanks for the kind words. True, Facebook can import blogs, but it turns them into Facebook pages instead of leading people back to your site. FlockCast links back to your blog so you can get that traffic.
@djrbk: Yeah, we don't do things halfway around here. Glad you're enjoying it! :)
@bktriad: Thanks man! You can import bookmarks from Firefox and install Firefox extensions in Flock, so hopefully you can have a pretty smooth transition over.
@jL: Hit the nail on the head! :)
@Alexei: I love to see that kinda excitement! :)

I'm a big fans of Opera n firefox... but soon after I discovered Flock, I put a link on my FB account and recommended it to my office mate. And they thank me for it.U're HIP!
Just a couple questions: 1) Are you planning to include Stumble Upon? and 2) Wouldn't it be nice to have multiple Twitter accounts management capabilities (sort of HootSuite feature)?
May 20, 2009 - 10:39am — Linda Aaron (not verified)
I have been trying Flock for the last two days and love it so far. I have given the link to all of the real estate agents in my office so that they can try it too.
Thanks for the cool new browser!
I also love this update. It consolidates TweetDeck and FireFox but runs faster than both!! Great.
Now we want more!! In the spirit of this very post, I'd love Vimeo-integration. And while you're at it: put Virb and SoundCloud in too (though I realize the smaller userbase..)
Keep it up - it's great!
Suggestion: Wouldn't it be good that Tweets' links in Pople sidebar open in a new tab? One more: A HootSuite like feature to manage several Twitter accounts, and lastly: Am I missing something, or there is no possibility to create user profiles with a single login grouping all corresponding facebook, twitter, flickr, etc accounts together, this would be useful in home computers with more than one users.
@Adalberto Hernandez Vega: What do you mean by include Stumbleupon? It should work fine in Flock. Multiple Twitter accounts would be nice, though not in the cards right now - browsers can only notice one login at a time.
@Andreas: Thanks for the love! If you'd like to have your vote for Vimeo, please go click the "I like this idea, too!" buttons on this page. For the other two, I highly recommend you post them as ideas at www.getsatisfaction.com/flock. That way other folks can vote on them so we really know what services you all are pining for!

@Alejandro: Flock 2.5 does not have Tumblr integration, but you can vote for it here. Firefox 3.5 is not out of beta - once it is we can investigate that code.

Hey guys, I found the new "X" Close Button on the tabs kind of misaligned, it only aligns at the top with the Caps letters (which is, for several reasons here, something incorrect). Would be nice to get back to something correct like before, I understand that you made it this way to avoid confusion with the sign as a regular "x" at the end of the tab text, this is an obvious failure of this this new style compared to the old and effective grey rounded x symbol. By the way, COME ON GUYS, we want our 512px for Mac icons!

Amazing release (2.5)!!!
The twitter integration became really impressive... but there is an issue that I would like to share with you, just as a feedback from a guy which is a fan of Flock since its first release:
- When somebody updates their status on twitter, Flock just keeps the last update visible to me and, by doing this, I've missed many inportant updates from the ones I follow and this problem made me go back to tweetie client.
Besides that.... everything is just as good as it can be....
Thanks a LOT from all your efforts in the most social browser ever!!

Hi - it would be great if the twitter link was added to the list if action items shown underneath each feed item - i.e. viewed - save - blog - email - digg it - twitter
I realise there are easy ways to twitter already, but that would also be handy..
I have only used Flock for a month or so but absolutely love it. Don't use any other browser now!!! I am always telling friends about you lol!! I'll check out the latest version. Thanks
Yeah, it's true about not being able to shorten url so hope the 2.5 changes that and also the twitter update is not current. For some reason it stays locked in a time warp!!

hola, soy www.mecacho.com web designer, I use Flock on mac
but I am really disappointed with the new version of Flock
in earlier versions had problems downloading images
the fact that now they can not download pictures from www.sxc.hu is really unacceptable considering that is one of the primary sites for finding free photos
if this project does not take a new direction I think I play change browser
Shawn: I just Googled you because I am watching CBS (10:06 PM Sunday night) and your sister just won a Tony. Where's your hair ? (Just kidding) ... Unfortunately, I can't weigh in on Flock because if I ever had time to play around on a social networking site, it would mean I'm dead. Email me. Sam Katz in Manhattan

I just installed Flock 2.5 on a Ubuntu 9.04 PC and it can't detect Facebook. Whenever I login to FB, Flock tells me I have to logout to enjoy the benefits, etc. I can repeat this process 1000 times and get the same result.
Someone from core77 the Design forum mentionned flock, and i downloaded it.
I was in awe, in 10 minutes i set up my myspace, flickr, twitter, yahoo mail, and typepad account. This application is amazing it doesn't feel like those services are web based, but more are is if i am using an application from my mac. Its great to have my contacts on the sidebar, and the grab is so easy to use. In general its very easy to navigate as long as you click on the key Icon. The key is the key, the first three minutes i didn't get it, and almost walked out. And i only have to click on the service bar, for a typepad compose window to popup. This is really cool, i won't have to login, logout, type address, etc... go from one window to the other. I don't spend my whole time on social networking websites, but this makes it easy. And i love the fact i have the choice to choose what search engine i want, unlike the search of safari or firefox.
This seems to be an interesting year with Bing, Wave and this.....
Congratulations, you took this to a new level. I wish you a lot of success. I use safari and firefox, but I am switching. I switched.
From firefox, i like cool previews, and cool Iris. I will explore your addons later.
Ps:
And i have the same problem as Alexis Kauffman. I can not set up the facebook account. No matter how many times i log in/log out, says i have to log out to get the benefits.
Ps2:
By the way, i don't have a lot of money (Yet!...) , but next thing i thought, was who owns this, i wanted to know if the company had gone public.
I am thinking how come it is not more widespread. No offense! but more people should know about this, mainstream, its been available for some time.
Right now i am looking at the areas on the sidebar for account and services and seeing the different account being online, you should take this further, as if there is anything new on an account let's say a comment on youtube, or msg on myspace, a non invasive notification could appear. with could bring more relevance to Flock cause of more interaction with these services by the user from flock.
I am in product design, and the who designed this wanted to bring a unique experience. I cant wait to see how the company will evolve

Here is the deal. I have had flock for about 45 minutes. Still not ready to make it my default browser but I love the people sidebar. It gives me what Facebook took away earlier this year. And that is one recent update per friend without all the responses. I can quickly browse through my friends and see what everyone is up to. If someone continually updates their status, I only get the most recent. If I want to know more, I can click on the person and get all the history, responses etc. Why Facebook got rid of this I will never understand but you guys have filled a huge void. Thank you.

Flock's chat is different than Meebo because it's not stuck in any single tab, and therefore allows drag-and-drop-tastic sharing.
OMGOMGOMGOMG!!! Gotta try this ASAP!!!
Good job, Flock team, and thank you!!

Exciting. Tried checking for updates. No updates found from 2.0.3.
Ah, that's because there is no update for the UK English version yet. Can't wait to try it out/Tweet it when it comes out though...

I don't like having to go the facebook to respond to status comments or wall posts. I ought to be able to do this from the people bar.

shoutout to the complete failure that is Flock. This could have been THE browser and you fucking losers failed at EVERY step. Good job.
