Hey Flockstars,
I want to clarify Flock's intentions and the new direction of the Flock extensions page, extensions.flock.com (EFC).
We haven't stopped hosting extensions, we've just simplified the back-end submission process, and content that we host. One of the great bonuses of this is our new ability to host Flock themes.
Flock still embraces extensions and themes, but we will leverage Mozilla's secure back-end hosting environment by encouraging you to get extensions from addons.mozilla.org. We’ll be dedicating our resources to responding to your needs and adding new and exciting capabilities onto the Flock browser.
The broad majority of Firefox extensions have always worked in Flock. Most Flockstars are aware of this and do not visit EFC for their extension needs. With the shift in focus to content that is Flock-specific, EFC now serves the niche that addons.mozilla.org does not: we provide extensions that enhance the many specific features that are unique to Flock.
Almost all of the developers that have their extensions removed from EFC had their extensions hosted on addons.mozilla.org already. We continue to support development of extensions for Flock and Firefox, and the developers who have interacted with EFC in the past continue to talk with us about the future of extensions for Flock. New developers are encouraged to check out our documentation and join us on IRC.
I hope this clarifies our position. You can still have all the feature benefits of Flock and take advantage of available Firefox extensions.
Community feedback is of the utmost importance to us and will always guide the development of Flock, our website, our extensions and our company. As always, I welcome your comments and emails.

Hi Evan
I always use FireFox site for downloading the extensions as there is a huge number of extensions there.
I use FireFox when I have to upload files to my site via FireFTP, I never tried that extension with Flock. I guess I should install that extension in Flock 2 and see if it works ok.
Thank You
Regards
Thanks for the update. I think it makes sense to focus on development and not on themes.
Interaction design
i use flock as my main browser. i have not encountered any problems so far. i have just started to use flock for barely a month now. should i be anticipating any problems in the future. so far as long as i use flocks toolbar, i have not encountered any problems using your browser. as a matter a fact it loads pretty fast. and im happy about that.
I was a Firefoxaholic.
But somehow it keeps crashing on my machine since version 2.0.0.16.
This browser was HIGHLY recommended, and I was flockaholic within 30 minutes.
Now let's see how long it takes me before you start crashing upon me ;-)
I had several troubles with my firefox - especially after longer time it took more than 500 MB of my ram. Staying with chrome vs. flock I chose flock. I just don't believe Google when it comes to storing my personal info.
I think the move will probably highlight that there are Flock-specific extensions, and maybe it will inspire more people to write for it?
I use flock as my main browser on laptop with XP sp2. But on my pc with XP sp3 it crashes occasionally. Maybe there are some problem with sp3?
when flock 2 will be available on flock 1 automatic updates tab?[help -check for updates].is it safe to manual install it over version 1?favorites and history archive will be transfered this way?
what about search engines? i'm having problems adding them, at least on flock 4 mac
thx good work with flock
i love it
@kottis: If you are using a localized version, Flock 2 will become available in the next couple of weeks. Otherwise it should already be available with an automatic update.
Installing it manually is almost always (99% of times) safe, and it will automatically transfer your favorites and history.
@Chris Lees: I certainly hope so! :)
@Aktuelle: Hard to say without more information. Please email our Community Support Lead, Jen Anderberg, with info about your issue. her email is jen at flock dot com.
@kottis: Auto-updates are still in testing, but should go on in the next month to couple-of-months. As AtteL said, it is safe to manually upgrade, but it's always a good practice to back up your profile.
@numtre: What happens when you try to add a search engine?

well just upgraded to version 2 manually.in general was a smooth transition[thanks for feedback}.just i had to upgrade ad block plus extension for compatability and flock prompted me to do so.After the upgrade i saw that now you can configure extensions [java plug in, real flash etc]from within browser -extensions themes addons section.but there i found flash player addon was downgraded to 9.124 version from 10 that was previously on flock 1.so a small disturbance since i had to reinstall vers.10 manually (though in success).and a first small remark for 2.can i have back this plus sign on each browser tab for quick opening tabs?i found it on the right of tabs but its not so convinient as before when it was integrated on each tab for quick opening.
You saw a + sign on each browser tab which, when hit, opened a new tab? I was not aware that this functionality existed. Could this be due to a browser add-on/extension?
yes.and no browser add-on was on my 1 version besides ad block plus.at least not installed from me..now this + for open new tab has disintegrated from each tab allready opened and is available on the right of tabs line indepedently.just a small incovinience as said.
Now that the google toolbar works with Flock again, I'm using Flock again! Thanks guys.
j'utilise toujours les extensions de firefox pour flock je n'ai jamais rencontrer de problème mais avec la version 2.0 de flock c'est le k.o même j'ai pu la désinstaller
I'm trying to like Flock, really I am. But with every update more and more extensions get disabled. This is to be expected, to a point. But what's disappointing is the speed at which they get updated. Or should I say, NOT updated. Some of them just sit in limbo for months. Sadly, I'm not writing this with Flock. I hope the pace quickens as the interest in this browser grows. Otherwise...we might be looking at another Netscape-style demise.
I was excited to see themes available, but as a Linux user your themes appear to be Win/Mac only. After years of using Firefox and being treated as an equal, it seems a real shame that I'm back to being a second-class citiizen in the Flock world. When your technology is (uneccessarily) platform-specific, the minority will always be left behind.
I still using Flock after a few year surfing the web with so many other browser, so i love Flock and would like to share something in my experienced to get extensions on Flock.Basically ,Flock offer a few add-on-extension only, in my case i already get Firefox adds-on they works very good ,:
- Video downloads : Downloadhelper.
- Screencapture (video) : Capturefox.
- All for capture page : Scrapbook.
- Clipped something : Clipmarks.
- and a few other adds-on.
If you look at to use some features of these adds-on above, get it ,i already used at least 2 year ( so many previous Flock version until now ).
Well..This is far from a finished product but the latest update looks good.
Been waiting for this, Flock gonna be good for google toolbar, Thanks guys.
Brilliant stuff..This should set a precedent.
Good stuff..This will only shoot up Flock's profile..
I recently discovered this browser and for some reason or another it crashes with vista's current update. I took it off and it works. not sure what's going on.

I think I found why I was crahing. I discovered a malware that was taking over all my default search engine. once i removed it, it works great now.
