Hey Flockstars,
First of all, a big thanks to all those who showed up to the Flockstar meetup in San Francisco last night. It was a small group, but we had a blast being able to talk to you face-to-face, show you 1.2, and talk about non-tech stuff. We hope you had a good time too, and we'll definitely do another meetup soon!
I've been at the Web 2.0 Expo on and off all week. We ran into a lot of Flockstars, including at the booths; IBM was apparently sporting Flock in their demos, and Coghead had a very passionate (and now stickered-up) Flock evangelist demoing their product with Flock. I saw people rocking Flock on a number of laptops in the sessions, and got a lot of thumbs up for my Flockstar shirt. We know you're out there, but it's just great to see the actual faces of people who use our product.
I think by far one of the most interested and pertinent sessions was one hosted by Jonah Peretti (of Buzzfeed) called "Influence is Overrated". Jonah himself is a great study in how someone who would not be considered an "influencer" or an expert could end up on Good Morning America and in People talking about sweatshops and relationships. Jonah started several projects for fun because he found them entertaining (such as ordering custom Nike shoes with the word "Sweatshop" on them) that spread and spread until they organically found their way to the press.
The point here is not that Jonah is a brilliant tactician or a key influencer; it's that he created something that was compelling to REAL people. They sent these amusing sites off to their other friends who sent it to others who sent it to still more, until it became big enough that Katie Couric discovered it. He was not a key influencer, but he influenced people because he had a compelling product that spread like wildfire.
I love this concept, because we've never made Flock for the critics. We originally started building Flock because we wanted a tool to make our online lives easier. We knew that you needed and wanted it too, but just didn't know quite what "it" was. This is also why Flock was built as a full browser: instead of having to assemble your online experience, we do our best to build and integrate it for you (while still providing many customization and extension abilities). We have grown and spread significantly in the last few years, and it's not because of key influencers writing about us. It's because of YOU writing to your friends about Flock, YOU proudly sporting your "Blogged with Flock" tags, YOU putting Flockstar stickers on your laptops and shirts on your bodies, and YOU telling people that they HAVE to try Flock. You have more influence than anyone labeled an "influencer" will ever have, because you are real and passionate and your own community listens to you.
Thank you for lending your influence to Flock. I hope you will continue to evangelize Flock whenever you get a chance. We'll keep innovating and improving it for you.
See you at the next meetup...shoot me some ideas about when and where we should hold one!

Looks like the meet up was a success just as everyone would have expected it to be!
Next meet up - Somewhere in the east - PLEASEEE!!! Or make it a video conference (I know its asking for a bit too much, but still..)
Hey Evan, how about setting up an event in Panama City, Panama. That would knock my socks off.

If twitter wasn't already consuming all my time, the way that content is synthesized and delivered to the desktop via Flock is truly distracting to me (don't think negative -- only in what it's doing to my time!!!). I could spend hours just evaluating/deconstructing all of this from a design perspective.
Going to check out the velocity of volume metrics on twitter...
I've been putting off going to Firefox (would have been more pressing if I was a developer). Triangulate that with my twitter addiction and my ecobend...the eco version was just too much to ignore...tweeted by a respected eco contact.
Twitter addicts are in for a huge reality shift.
I have to brag just a little, not that my small circle of people make a big difference. However everyone I come in contact with who are avid users of the web/social networking I have forced them...lol...to install Flock! I just can't see why you would use anything else! I have to make sure the people who surround me use the best product for their online lives too. So thanks Flock Folks for making me a really "cool" guy, my family and friends are hooked and you helped me give them that opportunity. Always looking forward to the growth of a program/necessity I have come to love. Kudos to the infinite power to you folks!
Hey Evan,
Thanks again for the email today. I don't actually live very far from San Francisco, but I was busy on the night of the meet up. I will try my hardest to make the next one. There is no stopping this awesome product! You guys are doing a killer job!
I started using Flock from last few weeks (thanks to AOL for asking users of Netscape to move) and I really liked it. One thing I can see how it's different is that, it has many SOCIAL elements integrated (this is good enough reason to ask my friends to use Flock) but I want to know more about how Flock is different from a normal browser like IE and Firefox? I think, to influence anyone to do/use anything, first of all should know all the +/-es.
Thanks!
Yeah, very true. I have told many people about this great browser. But I guess many people are still missing it.
I have actually written few articles about Flock too :)
Also, are you planning to arrange such meeting in other places ?

Flock is one of the greatest inventions on the internet.
Have written few articles about Flock in my Newspapers Directory
Very cool. Maybe I'll try to make the next meetup. "Flockstar" is a great word! :P
I found this b/c of Netscape, too, since I like to be signed into multiple instances of the same service with different browsers for easy blog-commenting. ;D
We love flock and were sorry we missed it.
Hugs,

Greetings from Finland just to tell your browser is simply the best will bang this fact to the heads of all friends
Cheers
