Cannot share links via Gmail

Hello there.

Ever since upgrading to 1.1.1 I cannot share links via Gmail. When I press the share button, a tab with composing new message appears just like before. However, what is different is that there is no link address in the message body anymore. Does anybody else experience the same thing?

I believe that Gmail is at fault - they changed something in the code again. My "Gmail this" bookmarklets weren't working as well until I downloaded the most recent one here: http://tinyurl.com/bqz2l

Thanks, Evan.

By the way, is there a way to share links via email through a popup similarly to "Gmail this" bookmarklet (http://lifehacker.com/software/gmail-tips/gmail-this-bookmarklet-190122.php)? It takes forever to load up the new instance of Gmail and it slows Flock down a lot :(

Hey aleksod,

Not at this time, but perhaps in the future!

I think the problem is here again: the new message tab opens but there is no links in the message body! Any confirmations?

Can you try Forcing Service Updates? Tools->Options, Advanced, Update tab.

Even without updating the services, sharing links via Gmail works for me in Flock 2.0 beta 2 in Windows XP. I am using the "new" version of Gmail (with email label coloring).

What browser add-ons are you using?

I tried service updates but the problem is still here. By the way, I am using Flock 1.2.4.

@aleksod: Gmail has indeed changed their page again. The fix is part of 1.2.5 (not sure when it will be released as of this writing).

Thanks for the info, Justin!

I wonder if there is a way to keep the Gmail integration intact without making the next version of Flock... Perhaps, include a separate update just for services or something like that.

@aleksod: Good thinking! We actually did make the switch over to use our Web Detective functionality with our Gmail integration in Flock 2.0. Until then, we didn't want to make any major functional changes to what's currently out there in the field (1.2.x).

I hope this helps. Flock on!

Waiting for 2.0, then ;)
