We’re very excited to tell you about our latest release, so let’s cut to the chase: Flock 1.1 is here.  You can download it via any of the download buttons here on flock.com (the installer will upgrade older builds of Flock to 1.1 and retain your data).  We will be turning on automatic updates from 1.0.9 to 1.1 in the coming weeks.

Flock 1.1 includes some very exciting improvements. Flock’s integration of Gmail and Yahoo! Mail makes it much easier to stay connected and share your discoveries with friends. Flock also lets you know when you have new messages waiting for you so you don’t miss a beat. Check it out and have fun with it.

We’ve made some key enhancements to Flock’s MyWorld page. First of all, you can now rename it to make it really yours! We’ve also added a Friend Activity Feed so that you can keep up to date with all of the latest actions of your friends from the various People services supported by Flock. Once you’ve logged into one of the People services, you’ll see your friends’ activities start flowing into MyWorld. Just as with most things in Flock, you can drag a Friend Activity headline onto a friend within the People sidebar to introduce people or share across services.

We’ve also added support for Picasa Web Albums in Flock 1.1 because you, our passionate community, overwhelmingly requested it. We listened, and Flock is now an even better product as a result.

If you’re enjoying your experience with Flock, the best thing you can for us is to help get the word out. Tell your friends to give us a try. Your endorsement means the world to us!

Enjoy 1.1, we’ve got a lot of great things planned for you this year. Please keep the feedback coming. We love your comments!

If you beta tested Flock 1.1, please see an important note about your profile information here.

-Go get it!

well done...well done...

Wow... that's got to be the fastest beta-to-final cycle I've seen for a web browser! Now I know why you were sticking with Gecko 1.8.x -- 1.9 is still in development right now!

Hey guys. Guess what part of that didn't work? The importing of my data. This will take hours of my valuable time that I could be spending socializing with internet girls finding all of my favorite feeds and extensions again. :\.

Just kidding about that last part, but yeah. I'm still going to be out for three or so hours trying to fix it. Thanks. :P.

Hi Funkmon,

If you're updating a 1.1 beta version you need to follow a few steps which we've documented here: http://flock.com/faq/show/30#q_61354

Thx,

Nah, it was the normal version, but it was probably on my end. :(. Oh well. It gave me an excuse to get rid of those unnecessary extensions. :).

Nice work on the web mail and Picasa integration! Unfortunately I'm having a little problem with my GMail account. Some combination of letting the browser store my password and Google to save the settings in a cookie, has made a second web mail profile, which is somewhat broken in presentation of the account name. Is there a way to delete specific email profiles, or all of them?

Thanks!

Hey Ken,

You should be able to get rid of an extra account by going to the Accounts&Services sidebar and "forgetting" that account. If that doesn't work, let us know.

I've downloaded, installed but it won't start. Any ideas? No errors, just nothing happens.

When will Flock switch to Gecko 1.9 engine as used in Firefox 3.0?

I installed it (on Ubuntu 7.10), but now with a bunch of things (e.g., when I try to install missing plugins, view my RSS feeds, look at my add-ons, try to customize the toolbars), I get an "XML Parsing Error".

I tried replacing it with my backed-up Flock 1.0 folder, but continued getting the same error messages. Any ideas?

I like the integration with Gmail. Are there any plans for Flock to also recognize accounts under Google Apps for Your Domain?

Hi Funkmon,
Which version of Flock did you have prior to updating to 1.1? What types of data didn't get migrated: was it just the extensions or also other data? Was there any warning message during the migration?
Please, feel free to directly contact me with the above information. My email address is sophie @ flock.com . I'd be happy to take a look at the issue you've encountered.

Hi Web Browsers,
Could you please email me, as well, at sophie @ flock.com ? Did you have any previous Flock edition installed? If so, which one? Which platform are you on?

Hi JHende,
Did you have any previous Flock edition installed? When exactly are you seeing the "XML parsing error": is it when you try to customize your toolbar, for example? Could you please email me (sophie@flock.com) with those information?

Many thanks, and apologies for all the inconvenience you've experienced.

@Fx3: We will be switching to Gecko 1.9 after Firefox3 is completed. Work has begun on our trunk.

@btl: No concrete plans, but there are a lot of requests for this (I just logged yours) so we'll definitely be looking into it.

this is a wonderful service really nicely worked out!..

"This application has failed to start because xpcom_core.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Guess I should've waited for the automatic update.... *rolls eyes*

I had an issue in the beta with email accounts not getting checked, and it seems the latest release of Flock still has this issue for me. My yahoo email seems to be checked every ten minutes, but my gmail account isn't getting checked for some reason. Is there anything I can do? I'm using mac.

Hi coxy,
I googled around for this error and it looks like something that occasionally happens to Mozilla based browsers like Flock, Firefox, Netscape and Seamonkey when they interact with other applications or extensions. I haven't had a chance to look into it much yet but the solution that I've seen posted around the web is to:

Copy these files from "C:\Program Files\Flock" and paste them into "C:\WINDOWS\system32"

nspr4.dll
xpcom.dll
xpcom_core.dll
plc4.dll
plds4.dll

Congratulations Flock Team! I'm really enjoying these new services. My only issue is that the content and interface of my Y!Mail somehow changed from English to German (I'm currently living in Germany). When I sign in with Safari (3.0.4), it's back to English again.
If it helps, I also noticed that, on the Y!Mail menu in Flock, my email domain also changed, showing yahoo.de instead of yahoo.com. I've been on the new upgraded Y!Mail since it became Safari-compatible a few weeks ago.

Very nice!
I've been using the beta version of 1.1 and migrated over to the stable version yesterday. No problems with shifting the profile information over, and everything else seems to be running quite smoothly.
This browser has a good feel to it and for the most part is quite intuitive to use.

Carmen.

Thanks Mike Dosik. That somewhat worked - I now get an error for 'js3250.dll'. I might just completely uninstall Flock and try again - I can't find this dll on my computer at all. This Flock installer seems to have screwed something up.

I've used Flock on-and-off for years, but I've only been using Flock as my default browser for about two weeks (sorry, but Opera is reliable) - I love the social side of Flock, though.

...I'm back using Flock now - was easiest to uninstall (via the Control Panel) and then re-install. Silly PC's. I left some constructive feedback on your uninstall form. :)

When I started the app up again, it said that the British English Dictionary was incompatible with this version of Flock - so I guess it could've been that causing the issue. Maybe.

Thanks for the help anyways.

Congratulations Flock Team !
I'm using Flock as default browser for about three weeks and I'm fan of it.

Man, I loved e-mail button. Perfect.

Great job guys.

I upgraded from 1.1 beta and followed the instructions here http://www.flock.com/faq/show/30#q_61354 and I kept all my favorites, feeds and settings from the beta version. It worked great.

@Mygdala: To solve problems with your Gmail account not being checked in Flock on a regular basis, try the following:

1. Tools->Options, Advanced tab, Update tab. Click the Force Service Updates button.
2. When this finishes, open your Accounts and Services sidebar. Find your Gmail address in there and click Forget Account.
3. Close the browser and reopen.
4. After the browser opens, go to the Accounts and Services sidebar, and click the Gmail link in the Webmail section. Login, and have Flock remember your account.

Flock should now check your Gmail account on a regular basis. I had similar problems, and updating the services, forgetting the account, and relogging in seemed to fix it.

It's funny, I didn't realize 1.1 was going to be such a huge update, but when I restarted Flock, I immediately noticed the Webmail button, stood up, and started dancing in my living room. My husband thought I'd lost it. That has been one of the major features I've been waiting for Flock to roll out and I am SO excited to see it. THANK YOU for the amazing job, guys!

I love using Flock as much as FireFox.

It does not work with Gmail For Domains....

I was a die hard Firefox fan until you guys came along. Now I'm a Flocker!! Integrating web mail was one of the best things you could have done! Now get MySpace on board and you'll have all my needs covered! LOL Keep working on the customization of My World too. Love it!

Flock! Something new, something beautiful, something promising! I like it and i guess there will be some millions more that they will as the time goes by. It is stable and good looking, very good job from all you guys. Always try for the better.

good way of looking all round the world. it up date us about the circumstances of gobalization of the world.

it is best to touch the modern world

Found Flock by chance as my Firefox3 beta played up bigtime. Even though its got the Firefox engine its running extremely smooth and I'm very delighted with it.Thanks a lot guys...

Used to be a Firefox feind (still use it, but not so much) ... now i'm a bona fide Flocker ... see, this is how the other guys should do a browser ... thankssssss

Fantastic job guys! Absolutely lovin' the webmail integrate. But that isn't to say flock wasn't brilliant before it. ;-)

Well done Well done,
Thanks its a new addition of web world and its have a lot of things and links

This is great! Now I can use Flock as my main browser, picasa and twitter are great to use from Flock. Now, it would be perfect if I could find a way to use my Google Apps account (webmail at my own domain, really) from Flock.

Awesome. Yahoo Mail might just catchup to regular Gmail because of Flock. :)

HELLO WELLCOME!!!!
WELL DOWN , WELL DOWN

I'm still using Netscape 8 Browser for the simple reason that I can't live without Passcards and Autofill. Does FLock have the same capability, or do you have to plug-in some lame add-on?

Need-to-No

I love the flock browser! I have my webmail as the homepage but still use the old reliable Netscape 7.2 for email that I want to keep on my pc to read without having to be online. Any chance of integrating something like that for flock?

Wow, very impressive. I installed Flock on Ubuntu and I was quite shocked that the flash module automatically downloaded and installed itself without me having to mess with the command line as I have had to do in the past with other browsers.

kudos

"Flock also lets you know when you have new messages waiting for you so you don’t miss a beat"

Thank You so much for this cool addition.

I have installed both yahoo messenger and Gmail talk, in order to know about new messages. I don't use both these for chatting so I don't d them now, as Flock will do the job for me.

Thank You so Much

many thanks for those people who created this marvellous browser!!I am very \satisfied with it and can see my email on yahoo and gmail-it would be very
intelligent if we can add other mail to this fantastic browser-many thanks to
those intelligent people who offered us this present.

King

ok.

You can log me in as someone who also thinks the integration of Google Apps email accounts is a good idea.
