Hey freediver,

Thanks for spreading the word, nice post! Just so you know, the reason that we're somewhat quiet on the forums is that we're busy working on the product (though we'd love to be able to answer threads faster). We're very serious about Flock and that's why we're often more focused on making it better. We do read all the threads here (and elsewhere) and it all affects how we build Flock.

Evan,

allow me to disagree. I think you are doing completely the opposite thing of what you should be doing. Flock is all about social media yet you fail to socialize. I post a thread in the forum about flock problems and get no replies. You read my thumbs up review of flock on my blog yet you did not leave a comment. Leaving a comment is showing you care and promoting your browser. Those are basics of social networking.

You say you are busy with working on the code so you do not have time for socilazation. That's what Microsoft programmers are supposed to do! You are making a browser for new era of internet, and it is called Flock, the social browser.

I see you have "SPREAD FLOCK" as your slogan but that is what Firefox already used (www.spreadfirefox.com). May I suggest something. I think you should really use "SHARE FLOCK" as it's different and it specially emphasizes the social aspect even more.

Cheers
Vladimir

ps. I am trying to post this message for five minutes now, flock.com seems to time out.

Freediver,

I know Flock's all about social networking sites, but I didn't download it to socialize with Evan. I mean, hey, our favorite Community Ambassador totally rocks socks, ok? But he isn't why I have this program installed on my computer.

I don't need instant replies from him or other members of the Flock team. I do very much appreciate Evan's assurances that our comments are being read and considered for implementation.

Thumbs up, Evan, I think you're doing a great job. Keep hounding those programmers for Last.fm integration, too! ;)

Hey Vladimir,

Sorry about the posting bug, we're looking into this at this time.

I totally respect where you're coming from...socializing with the community is exactly what my position (and the company in general) is all about. However, there are going to be gaps in this experience because we can't hire a team of 5 Community Ambassadors and 20 Support guys. I read every blog posted about Flock every week and often do comment, but sometimes I don't get around to commenting.

Now, posting about Flock problems is definitely a different situation, and we are currently working to get more people and time spent on the support forum and feedback form...dealing with bugs that our users are experiencing is obviously top priority.

I encourage you to get involved with the Flock community and socialize with us! In addition to the forums and the blog there are several other places where Flock, Inc to Flockstar communication happens:

Community Office Hours
I make myself 100% available one hour a week (no meetings, afk's or multitasking)...usually Monday at 11am PST. All my contact info is available at http://flock.com/about/10370.

Flockstar mailing list
Sign up at https://lists.flock.com/mailman/listinfo/flockstars for updates, sneak peeks, and opportunities to participate

IRC
IRC, if you don't already know, is a method of group chat. You can download IRC software or use a web interface at ircatwork.com.

Flock server: irc.flock.com
Flock channel: #flock

Facebook
Join our brand new Facebook group and meet other Facebook Flockstars at http://ucsc.facebook.com/group.php?gid=26817970584.

Twitter
Get instant updates about bug fixes, upgrades, and events at www.twitter.com/flocker.

Hope to see you at one of those places soon!

I also did not download Flock to socialize with Evan, don't get me wrong (maybe if Evan was a hot chick... :) )

Was just pointing out some facts that bothered me (meaning I am personally involved in this project and I care).

Peace! ;)

"by freediver: allow me to disagree. I think you are doing completely the opposite thing of what you should be doing".

I agree. I scream about Flock from my blog (link) and on Aqua Soft forum telling people how happy I am to find smth great but here I can't have any response to any of my questions.

It would be nice if there was some kind of chat apart from the forum. people need to know the answer right now. and it will be smth new and totally support the idea of social browser. It could online chat ot irc chat whatever.

The social browser need to be socially-respondable.

Hey macuache,

Can you please point me to where you're not being responded to? I generally don't do technical support so that may be where the gap is (we're working to find a fulltime support person right now). Other than that, we're very available. As I listed above (and on my bio), I hold Community Office Hours every Monday, am available via various chat programs most of the time anyway, and we have an IRC full of Flock community and employees running day and night.

If you have a suggestion about a better place to display this information, I'd be happy to hear it! We're not trying to hide these things, but they seem hard to find anyway. :)

Hi Evan.
Thanks you for reply.

here are my question on that forum
http://www.flock.com/node/61172
http://www.flock.com/node/61173
http://www.flock.com/node/61220
http://www.flock.com/node/61145 (that one I have answered by myself)

I tried to contact you through Twitter - sent you mail. no answer. I guess it is smth different than ICQ client. I was following your messages there but couldn't contact you there.

So my idea is - online help chat to anyone (here and now) - people sometines are so desperate to ask any Flock's guru. It would be nice if there was a clear visual aid where and how to quick contact Flock's guru (like Mac genious).

One more thing. I have head your music on homepage. very nice :)

Hey macuache,

I don't find any messages in my inbox with the word "macuache". What address is your email coming from?

I also don't see anything on Twitter. Did you reply to me or send a direct message?

You can usually get live help on the Flock IRC channel, often from the developers who built the product! :)

I apologize that your posts weren't answered and I have responded to them. As I mentioned, we're currently looking to hire someone who does support fulltime, as (clearly) our current staff does not have time to keep up to date on the support forums. I am not a support forum (though I try to help out where I can). It's not a good excuse, of course, and I'm sorry your posts went unanswered. We're a small company, and there are always growing pains. :)

- Yes. I used mail icon in sidebar.

I could answer my questions by myself If I knew where to search. I have already found a solution to one of my questions which I have posted.

Hey macuache,

Weird, apparently your Twitter message did not go through.

What email are you using to contact me with? It may be getting caught in my spam filter. If you don't want to mention it here, perhaps try emailing me at evanhamiltonld at gmail dot com.

A great place to search for answers is using the "Search Forums" sidebar module on the right side of each forum page.
