A fellow by the handle of Rasterbater emailed me to let me know he figured out how to install the Google Toolbar in Flock. I heard on television the other day that even heads of state use The Google, so it must be popular. Please be warned that neither we, nor any heads of state, take any responsibility if you do this and it creates a quagmire of any sort.
1. Install the GoogleBar into Firefox.
2. Quit Firefox.
3. Locate your Firefox extensions directory (inside ~/Library/Application Support/Firefox/profiles default directory).
4. Locate the Google ToolBar directory (Trial and error: keep opening directories and using TextEdit to read install.rdf files until you find the one with Google in the text.)
5. Copy the Google ToolBar directory to Desktop.Open install.rdf file inside that directory.
7. Add the following code in the target applications section (also available from Flock developer wiki):

Hi Pete:
Don't you think that if Flock pretends to be a mainstream Social Networking browser, the Google Toolbar should be designed by Google to work in Flock?
I don't think it's a good idea to make newbies program an adaptation of Google's Toolbar to work in Flock. That should be arranged between Flock and Google to come up with this solution. Don't you think?
In my case I would not go into the trouble of hacking my Flock browser.

Easy way to locate Google Toobar directory is search for string RDF:about="urn:mozilla:item: in the file extensions.rdf which lays in the firefox profile directory, value of this, fuzzy string is the name of Google Tolbar directory in the firefox extensions directory

Omar: This hack was for OS X users (if you read the post on my blog, you would see the Apple tag). At the time, Google Toolbar would install fine for Firefox (pre-2.0), but not Flock, which is based on Firefox. My hack was to get my Google Toolbar in Flock, since I use Flock as my everyday browser. So for you, this post would have been pointless. But for Mac users, it was not. Flock did not have the Google extension to my knowledge at the time I sent Will an email about it. Hope that clears it up for you.
Also note that Flock and Yahoo were partners, and I thought that might have something to do with the lack of Google support at the time.
I installed Firefox and downloaded Google toolbar. I then closed Firefox. From there, I don't have a clue in accessing these directories. I even did a search and had no luck.

When I miss you, there will be drops of tear in my eyes, and I can not calm down. A dim shadow of the occupied no sounds even as my heart, have been reluctant to leave, it is you rose zulie. In this night, my feeling is full of you, unwilling to disperse it into it, with the lights so secretly blur, but the blur, was moist the entire mind.

Dear Friends, Just click http://toolbar.google.com using your flock browser and install beta version of toolbar after completion of installation of Google toolbar for Firefox restart you flock browser and here is Google toolbar.
It works better for me than every one's suggestion.
I thought Flock is designed using Firefox's engine. I thought it should work, and I am surprised it doesn't. I'm kind of new to all this, so I don't know much about it, but logic leads me to the conclusion that Google toolbar should have an easier procedure to install on Flock. Well, I assume it is not going to be long till Google toolbar gets Flock version, so I'll just wait till then.

I dont understand why you guys are making it so complicated! Just go to https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addons in flock, search for google toolbar and install it. Thats all!

My two cents comments on your post.

Pretends? We don't front, homie.
Obviously this hack is not for people unfamiliar with this kind of thing. That's kind of the point of hacks, right? ;)

This must be a mac thing. Installs fine from Google in WinXP, flock 0.7.6.
Hi Mctones:
I just downloaded and installed Google's Toolbar extension from Flock Extensions and works fine with Windows XP/SP2.
This is what I meant by simplicity of use by the mainstream Flock user. Make it simple and people will come.
Cheers,
Omar.-
Alternatively, you could install MR Tech Local Install and use that to force compatibility. ;)

Thanks you.
Hello! Good Site! Thanks you! gqpykwyhqum
great.,
i love flock.,
it is nice.
and then,.i hope the more add-ons
I just browsed to the google toolbar page in Flock, clicked on install, it installed the toolbar and restarted. Seems to be okay so far.
Man, I tried to follow these instructions and they make zero sense to me.
It makes zero sense to me from here forward:
5. Copy the Google ToolBar directory to Desktop.Open install.rdf file inside that directory.
Is this hack still necessary with the Flock update 1.1?
I installed Firefox and downloaded Google toolbar. I then closed Firefox. From there, I don't have a clue in accessing these directories. I even did a search and had no luck.
I tried doing what you said, but with no success. Could you email me the modified file/folder to marko.balokovic@ymail.com?
Could you give us the precise link? I can't find it in Flock extensions.
